In the spirit of my rant over on The Big Pixels about Chain of Memories being a core Kingdom Hearts game, the guide gets a bit of the spotlight. It helps that it was a fantastic guide as well.
Unboxing the Epic Mickey Collector’s Edition Strategy Guide
Epic Mickey had its huge, official splash at E3 this year, and the Disney Interactive booth was covered in artistic renderings from Epic Mickey. Since it was a Wii game, you knew it couldn’t look as artistically amazing as this, but they obviously wanted to tout the artisticness of the game, meaning the use of Mickey’s paintbrush. Prima Games captured this artistic feel with its Collector’s Edition covers (front and back) alone, and then while flipping through the guide, I found that they did the same with the content.
But enough words. On with the pictures! [Read more…]
Weekly Poll: How often do you finish your games?
This week’s poll topic is one of extreme importance to me as of late, and it’s become even more important since midnight December 1st.
I have a ginormous stack of shame, and I really am ashamed of it. I always mean to finish my games, and if I know I’m not going to finish it, I sell it. So why don’t I finish some games? I can get burned out on a game if it’s exceptionally long or difficult, and at other times, I get distracted by something newer. I always say that when the releases slow down, I’ll pick back up a game from the stack of shame and finish it.
It doesn’t happen very often, unfortunately. [Read more…]
Weekly Poll: Epic Mickey?
Okay so the few of you who were able to play games over the Thanksgiving weekend, sucks to your assmar. I packed my handhelds as planned (too bad I forgot Final Fantasy III), but I was only able to take out my PSP once. And when I did, I got the look from the family. I had no idea my undivided attention meant so much to them, but eh, whatever. I’ll finish Ys Seven eventually.
The big topic of this week is Epic Mickey. I have preordered the game (Best Buy is going to give me a bonus 500 points on my Reward Zone account!), but I’m saving the guide for when I finish Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Final Fantasy XIII. So yeah, sad to say, I may not get to it by the end of 2010. Blame ACB for being so great I don’t want to hurry up and finish and my making a promise to my friend to finish FFXIII by the end of the year. So while yes, I am a big yes for EM, thanks to the demo at E3, I’m not going to drop everything to play it.
So how many of you are interested in Mickey’s new game? It’s been hyped like crazy all year long, so here’s hoping it’s not an epic flop. I’d love to see a decent third-party game to the Wii. There have been a ton of fantastic first-party games lately, but sad to say, none of them appeal to me, and none of them will until Skyward Sword releases next year. So come onnnnnn, Epic Mickey! Don’t let me down!
Print v. Online Strategy Guides – Vanquish
Once I discovered that Future Press‘s Vanquish strategy guide had codes for movies to watch online, I’ve really been curious as to what IGN Guides would offer. Their guides are often great for assisting screenshots and videos, so I thought we would have a real battle here with Print v. Online. Instead, I found that IGN offered one aspect that is really more useful than the print guide and the rest of their guide is unfinished.
I understand that maybe Vanquish isn’t one of the top games on their priority list, especially since Fable III released soon afterward and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood released last week. But to not have a completed guide for a game that takes eight hours to play a month after game release? That’s a little ridiculous. [Read more…]
