It’s a new week, and that means the gaming world has to come up with something new to complain about. For this week, the Hive Mind of the Internet has decided to complain about the box art for the new Doom that is coming out soon. Keri and I talk about our feelings on box art and even take a trip down memory lane. Now that we have that off our chest, can we please have one drama free week? Pretty please….with sugar and sprinkles on top?

Let me burst your bubble, Chris. Keri knows I have fun doing that. 🙂 When I was finally talked into buying a PS2 in early 2002, I didn’t know if there would be anything I’d want to play. So before taking the expensive plunge, I perused the videogames. I stumbled upon Jak & Daxter. I adored the cover so I read the back. Sold. I bought my PS2 and the game. I loved both! That was years before smartphones made researching in the stores easy.
Cut to last year. I’m a Street Pass addict so I make a point of going to Best Buy once a month just for the Street Pass. But I feel guilty getting the pass and walking back out so I usually peruse the videogames while I’m there. I don’t usually buy anything though because I already have my preorders through Amazon. There are always exceptions. I bought both Mind=0 and Tales of Xillia because I liked the cover art. I knew nothing about them but after reading the back cover and taking a quick glance at my phone I bought them. I loved both!
I’m not saying any of those games have the best cover ever. I could just tell enough that it looked like a game I might enjoy. I do the reverse as well. If I see 2 guys punching each other or lots of guns on the cover, I typically keep moving. Mind=0’s cover art was my computer’s wallpaper for a while. I liked it that much.
