I deeply apologize for the lack of posting last week. Gaming journalism-wise, last week blew up in my face starting at 7:48 p.m. on Monday night.
I have worked for Kombo.com since 2005. I started out as a copy editor, and over the years, I have evolved into a features writer, a game reviewer, and content manager. When I went to E3 this year, I finally got to meet my Kombo family and I realized quickly that I would remain friends for life with many of them. It’s rare you get that feeling from online colleagues that you’ve never met. Unfortunately, the good times couldn’t last forever. One of the owners decided to take the site into a new direction, and it was one that I, the editor-in-chief, news director, and reviews directors could not get behind. I resigned on Monday night with the EIC and news director, and then others followed the next day.
Even more sadly, it looks like Kombo will not survive the implosion. I’ve heard that there has been talk that the site will continue on, and I honestly hope it does. It’s been around for far too long (in online gaming journalism years), and its death would be sad.
I have fortunately landed on my feet and snagged a new gig at Games are Evil. I’m not sure how much writing I will be doing there, but it appears that I’ve been brought on as the Content Manager so I’ll be editing and scheduling publishing once again. I may also write for Game Critic as well, but nothing is definite there.
The point is that I’m not leaving the gaming journalism biz quite yet, and I’m ecstatic. THIS site isn’t going anywhere either. Since I no longer have the stress that is Kombo and GrE seems to be a far more manageable CMS to work with and a far more laid back team, I hope that will equate stepping up my game with Strategy Guide Reviews.
No poll this week as I try to get back into my groove. Thanks everyone, for sticking around through my personal chaos.

Not an end, but a beginning and all that jazz.
I was with Kombo for considerably less time than most of you but I was really happy how readily you guys accepted me into the community of writers and editors. I’m also happy that many of us are sticking together at various ventures around teh intarwebz.
So here’s to the future!
